Matthew Manning (UK Healer)
Back in the 1980’s (circa 85 to 87), I attended a weekend workshop in Newcastle, northeast of the UK, (together with a few others from a group I attended called ‘Mind Dynamics’), with Matthew Manning. I had become very interested in healing, a few years before, in 1979, and had already experimented with self-healing and sending ‘absent healing’.
We thoroughly enjoyed Matthews workshop and, for me, it was very affirming that my own ideas about healing were mirrored throughout Matthew’s workshop. In fact, I still give talks and occasional workshops on healing.
In recent years, I have often described Matthew Manning as Britain’s Uri Geller (described in Wikipedia as: an Israeli-British illusionist, magician, television personality, and self-proclaimed psychic.) Perhaps this is because I bought and read (and still have) a copy of Matthew’s book, ‘The Link’, where Matthew was already having similar experiences to Uri and able to demonstrate some of the similar ‘party pieces’, such as bending watch hands, etc. I am sure that Matthew actually said once, that although the book did very well, it wasn’t his favourite work and he seemed to regret writing it. Whether this was because he’d moved into the healing side of his abilities and wanted to distance himself from the Geller effects, I’m not sure.
Matthew often had cassette tapes to purchase at his workshops and produced many with his musician friends, Robert Godfrey and Tim Wheater; and Dr Brian Roet, an anaesthetist, who was very supportive of Matthews work with healing.
